A Superheated Success! 🚂🎉 Thanks to you and our generous supporters, we smashed the Giving Tuesday goal and raised over $20,000 toward our $45,000 superheater repair costs! Likely replaced just before the locomotive was retired, the superheater units were all in relatively fair condition, except for the bottom row and about a dozen others, which displayed significant freeze damage. In order to replace them, we must build brand new units, but the work requires a new (and costly) run of special order material. Our end-of-year fundraiser will make this possible and get us closer to a steam test in 2026. Thanks to everyone who donated and boosted our goal during a time when there are so many worthwhile projects in the railroad industry to support.
