Last night, representatives from Nashville Steam and the Tennessee Central Railway Museum attended the 125th anniversary event for Nashville’s Union Station. Since 1900, Union Station has been welcoming people to Nashville and is by far the grandest remnant of Middle Tennessee’s railroading heritage. Their new “Alligator Bar,” debuted at the event, pays homage to the alligator pits that were at track level to entertain passengers and promote travel to Florida when the station first opened. ![]()
We were thrilled to present local railroading artifacts as well as a new video about the station’s history, and promote the restoration of No. 576. Our deepest thanks to The Union Station Nashville Yards for letting us be a part of the planning process for this historic milestone! 🚂 🏫 🎉🍾🥳

🎉 This week marks the 125th anniversary of the opening of Nashville's Union Station! Nashville Steam was granted rare access to the historic clock tower for a special project that will premiere later this week. ![]()
The original "digital" clock only lasted until World War I when the silk bands needed to operate the complex mechanism were no longer available. So for most of the station's existence, the clock tower did not actually feature a running clock. Stay tuned for more content as we'll be celebrating this incredible building with The Union Station Nashville Yards all week! 🚂 🕥
