Gary was a founding member of Nashville Steam and we are absolutely heartbroken about this news. If you’ve been on any steam powered excursion in this country, chances are Gary helped or consulted with the operators. Every penny helps so please do what you can to help this true legend of railroad preservation.

When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.4 weeks ago
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our dear friend and brother, Jeff Brisendine. From the very beginning, Jeff was one of Nashville Steam's biggest supporters and quickly became instrumental in the effort to relocate and restore No. 576. Serving as our first Volunteer Coordinator, Jeff recruited many volunteers while the locomotive was still in the park by placing a hammer in an inquisitive onlooker's hand and saying "alright, well get to work!" He announced his presence with his boisterous laughter and entertained us with his numerous stories or the occasional tall tale. In typical fashion of an old school tradesman, he was a man of few words when it came to a job well done but he never missed an opportunity to teach or mentor. ![]()
We extend our deepest condolences to Jeff's friends and family, especially his wife Dana who serves on the NSPS Board of Directors. Jeff didn't want a funeral, in fact he would probably just want us to stop all this fuss and get back to work. We'll do just that and finish the job that he started. Donations in Jeff's honor can be made at: www.nashvillesteam.org/donate
